MAKE A PLAN TO GET YOUR FLU SHOT: CHANGES AT OCONTO COUNTY PUBLIC HEALTH
It’s time to get a seasonal shot to protect you and your loved ones from influenza and its complications. EVERYONE ages 6 months and up is encouraged to use this #1 method of preventing hospitalizations and deaths from the flu. By protecting yourself, you help protect those around you who cannot get their own vaccine, such as infants less than 6 months old and those with a weakened immune system. Flu shots do not make people sick, and they are needed annually, before flu season starts. The shot takes about 2 weeks to take effect. You can spread illness to others even before you have symptoms.
In recent years, many people have been taking advantage of pharmacies and other businesses, as well as their own healthcare providers offering flu shots when and where it’s convenient for them. This has helped protect many more people. However, Oconto County Public Health Department flu clinics have not been well-attended. Therefore, resources will be directed elsewhere for influenza season, and there will NOT be multiple large public clinics offered. You may still get a flu shot from the Public Health Department.

Monday, October 10 9-10 a.m. and 1-2 p.m.
Monday, October 17 9-10 a.m. and 1-2 p.m.
Monday, October 24 9-10 a.m. and 1-2 p.m.
Monday, October 31 9-10 a.m. and 1-2 p.m.
You may have heard of a “high-dose” flu vaccine, and an “intradermal”vaccine. The Health Department will not offer these types of vaccines. Ask your provider about these options.
