Our Services & Qualifications
Nutrition
A noon meal program is administered by the Oconto County Commission on Aging through a grant from the federal and state governments as a result of the Older American's Act. Social, nutritional and educational activities are frequently scheduled in conjunction with the meals at our meal sites throughout Oconto county.

Congregate Meals Qualifications:
Home Delivered Meals
Nutritious meals may be delivered to homebound elderly.
To be eligible, a person must be:
Note: If the person is under 60 years of age, an assessment can be done for a waiver.
Legal Services/Benefit Counseling
A Benefit Specialist is available to assist older adults (60 years and older) regarding public benefits such as SSI, Social Security, Medicare and a full range of other legal services. Attorney back-up/supervision is provided to the Benefit Specialist to assure accurate guidance.
Elder Abuse
A system to receive reports and investigate suspected elder abuse is coordinated by the Commission on Aging, as required by State Law. This system does not seek to place blame but strives to provide services to relieve circumstances bringing on the abuse. Cases of suspected elder abuse should be reported by calling (920) 834-7707 Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., otherwise, the Sheriff's Department at (920) 834-6919.
Transportation
Rural Service:
Transportation for peopole 55 and older or with disabilities is provided throughout the county on a rotating schedule, including door-to-door service to the nearest nutrition site and shopping area. A vehicle equipped with a wheel chair lift is available. A donation is expected. To find out when this service is available in your area, contact the Commission on Aging or the Nutrition Site Manager in your area.
Oconto Service:
Transportation for people 55 and older or with disabilities in the Oconto area to Oconto stores, doctors, Nutrition site, etc. on certain days of the week is provided. Call the Commission office for information. Donations are appreciated.
Volunteer Escort Program:
This program provides transportation for older adults with no other means of transportation for vital needs, such as medical appointments. Volunteers use their own vehicles to provide this service.
Anyone needing this service must contact the Commission office at least three working days in advance. Donations are requested. This is NOT an emergency service.
Outreach
The outreach program is designed to assist older adults with any problems on an individual basis. Outreach workers help older citizens find solutions to their problems. All information is confidential. To contact the outreach worker for your area, call the Commission Office or Nutrition site Manager.
